Anti-Evangelism, or just speaking Jesus.

I have recently been reading a great book by a guy called Carl Medearis called Speaking of Jesus. I absolutely loved the book and thought it made some excellent points about how as Christians we evangelise. Carl writes about how so often we get too wrapped up in being 'Christian' and being a Church that we forget about Jesus. We forget to tell people about the good part of the good news.

I was thinking about this and came to the conclusion that in order to be able to tell people more about Jesus I need to know him better, I need to learn more about what he did here on earth and try to grasp something of His infinite wisdom.

I began where you would expect me to in the Gospels but found that although I was really enjoying it, and finding it even more gripping than any of the novels I have read recently, I wasn't really taking the time to get to know the story better. I was speeding through the Gospels on after the other without stopping to think about the meaning or take in the importance and enormity of the things I was reading.

So I have come up with a plan of action, I have found myself a reading plan to take me through the Gospels chronologically. Now I am putting no time frame on this as I want to give each verse, story and parable the time it deserves. I don't know where we will end up as every time I set out to learn more about Jesus and let Him further into my life He turns around and surprises me but I am excited to find out. More than that I am looking forward to realising just how much more there is to learn about my Saviour and setting out on the next stage of this wild walk with Him.
